Mali’s transitional Prime Minister, Cheick Modibo Diarra, is now echoing the talk in the corridors of the Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas) of creating an enlarged ‘national unity government’. He was touring West African capitals before visiting the transitional President, Dioncounda Traoré, who remains in Paris receiving treatment after being almost killed by a mob (AC Vol 53 No 12). Diarra says Traoré is now keen to return, even though his family is anxious for him not to put himself in danger....
