Missing money

The political class is up in arms about the local authorities who are responsible for spending development funds from mining companies

A Liberian politician has accused a presidential appointee – who secretly recorded him making comments suggestive of corruption – of misappropriating government funds. Representative Edward Forh of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change claims that Montserrado County Superintendent Grace Kpaan was aware that US$261,620 in development funds from the China Union mining company were illegally withdrawn from a government account in 2011.
