Africa's loss

Africa has lost three of its favourite sons this year – Claude Ake, Mohamed Amin and Mohammed Abdul Rahman Babu. Each made his own remarkable contribution to the continent; they all had in common a gritty determination married to a truly African sense of humour and zest for life, no matter how cruel or absurd it sometimes seems.
