Rows in the echo chamber

The newly elected House of Representatives is meant to rubber stamp the actions of the presidency but is by no means united 

On 12 January 2015, in the run-up to Egypt's parliamentary elections, President Abdel Fatah el Sisi invited the heads of 15 of the newly formed political parties to the Presidential Palace. He told them he hoped they would unite in one 'inclusive' coalition that he would then endorse. After many fits and starts, the House of Representatives sat for the first time in four years on 10 January 2016 and El Sisi looks set to get the coalition of supporters that he wants.
