Pushing Sylvestre

Tutsi opposition groups allied to the military are trying to oust beleaguered Hutu President Sylvestre Ntibantunganya. The coalition led by Ntibantunganya has so far staved off the creeping coup launched in October 1993 by Tutsi hardliners. Claiming that Ntibantunganya has embezzled state funds to finance Hutu militias, four hardline Tutsi parties - Mathias Hitimana's PRP , Joseph Nzeyimana's RADDES, ousted Youth and Sports Minister Alphonse Rugambarara's Inkinzo and Abasa led by United Nations' Ambassador Terence Nsanze (AC Vol 36 No 21) - have publicly withdrawn their support for the President.
