The truth of the matter

Will President Kabbah act on a series of damning reports on human rights and corruption?

The government has yet to respond to the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which released a first version of its final report in October. There is no doubting the importance of the document in recording the conflict and charting a way forward for Sierra Leone. However, President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah's government is essentially the same one that was in power for the latter half of the war and persuading its old-guard politicians of the need for a new beginning is a tough challenge.
