Congo's Christmas wish, a three-year US$84 million Poverty Reduction and Growth Facility, was granted by the International Monetary Fund on 6 December, after years of failed reforms and broken promises from President Denis Sassou-Nguesso. The government opened the way for a deal by coming clean on where its oil income goes and releasing an audit by KPMG of state oil company Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo (AC Vol 45 No 15).
