Indignant at what he calls blatant international bias against Eritrea in its border dispute with Ethiopia, President Issayas Afeworki is restricting the work of the United Nations Mission to Eritrea and Ethiopia (UNMEE). Just over 3,000 UN peacekeepers are meant to patrol the Transitional Security Zone (TSZ), a strip along the border inside Eritrea 25 kilometres wide and 1,000 km. long, which is meant to keep the rival armies apart.
