Vice-President Atiku Abubakar insists that he remains a candidate in April's presidential elections despite what he describes as 'every effort to destroy' him. Behind that campaign is President Olusegun Obasanjo, according to Abubakar. Everywhere Abubakar appears the consummate politician. He is doing well in the courts too. On 20 February, the Federal Court of Appeal in Abuja confirmed his constitutional right to remain in office, despite having left the governing People's Democratic Party (PDP), on whose ticket he was elected, for the opposition Action Congress.
