Cash and blood on the streets

The lack of serious diplomatic pressure for change in Zimbabwe goes together with an almost total lack of planning for the aftermath of President Robert Mugabe's exit from power. Business people and financiers are quicker off the mark than their diplomatic counterparts. Expatriate Zimbabweans and foreigners have been buying real estate and equities which, in US dollar terms, are some of the cheapest assets in the world.
