The kidnap mystery

The kidnap of hostages, Ethiopian and British, on 1 March was apparently the first operation of the Afar National Democratic Front (ANDF). It was a mistake. The original plan was to seize local tax revenues. Via the Eritrean authorities on 13 March, five British Embassy hostages were released, but no one has heard anything about 8 Ethiopians kidnapped with them.
