Britain and the sanctions question

China and Russia's dual veto of a draft sanctions resolution against Zimbabwe at the United Nations Security Council on 11 July took nostalgic diplomats back to the height of the Cold War. Britain, France and the United States backed the sanctions resolution and the Afro-Asian bloc opposed it. The only innovation was that post-apartheid South Africa had a seat on the UNSC - and it too opposed the sanctions resolution.
