The oil obstacles

The politically charged battle over Kosmos Energy's attempts to sell its stake in the Jubilee field casts a shadow over Ghana's graduation as a serious oil producer next year. Kosmos is at the centre of a partisan row about its granting of a 3.5% equity stake in its Ghana operations to EO Group, closely linked to former President John Agyekum Kufuor, which has been harshly criticised by President John Atta Mills's government and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).
