Gadaffi Junior's gaffe

In September 2011, Colonel Moammar el Gadaffi’s son Es Saadi el Gadaffi arrived in Agadez in the dead of night in a mysterious convoy of vehicles, surrounded by equal mystery over his father’s whereabouts. Libya’s National Transitional Council immediately branded Niger as complicit in Gadaffi’s crimes and reacted angrily when, in November, President Mahamadou Issoufou granted Es Saadi asylum.
