Compassion fatigue

In 1984 BBC journalist Michael Buerk made a powerful television film of Ethiopia's 'biblical famine'. In an anniversary film this month, Buerk concluded things had not improved and upset even those Ethiopians who don't like Premier Meles Zenawi's government. Things have in fact got better, though the food supply is still fragile (AC Vol 45 No 1).
