The three main parliamentary opposition parties are boycotting the 12 October presidential election because none can agree to work with the others. The parties are John Fru Ndi's Social Democratic Front, Bello Bouba's Union Nationale pour la Démocratie et le Progrès and Ndam Njoya's Union Démocratique du Cameroun. Each leader regards himself as the ideal consensus candidate to beat President Paul Biya.
