Heading for the hills

The government is rallying the people behind a major campaign against the jihadists despite weak economic indicators

Tunisian security forces are beefing up their campaign against Islamist militants in the Mont Chaambi mountains along the Algerian border with a major purchase of helicopters from the United States. The country may be facing serious economic woes but Interior Minister Lotfi Ben Jeddou's attempts to round up members of Ansar al Sharia (AAS, Supporters of Sharia) and other militant groups in Chaambi has won the cabinet's full backing. Public opinion is in line with the policy, too, reports from Tunis say.
