The federation tango

The President’s new cabinet will face the same intractable issues as the last. Lack of international patience is another problem

Last month, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud survived a political crisis and finally sacked Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed, enabling him to appoint a new cabinet (a report on the new cabinet follows in our next issue). Yet this victory has not changed the political process. As a result, developments in 2015 will be driven, as in 2014, by progress or the lack of it on three important but equally intractable fronts.
