Commentary: Vice-President Samuel Sam-Sumana, a former diamond dealer from Kono is heavily criticised. His timber exploits in the north continually land him in hot water and he tends to be centred amidst rumours of corruption and intimidation. During the 2008 local elections he stirred up trouble by campaigning in Kono on a day allotted to another party. In October 2007 he headed Sierra Leone's  85-strong 'transition team' that volunteered their services for three weeks to do a health check on all government ministries, parastatals and agencies.
