Commentary: Joshua Dariye's arrest in the UK in 2004 was the first in what many saw as a series of targeted prosecutions by General Olusegun Obasanjo. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) froze Dariye's accounts, which contained almost US$3 million. He was then arrested in London on money laundering charges, but managed to skip bail and returned to Nigeria. He has since been unable to travel as the EFCC has seized his passport.
