Mr Ken Nnamani

Former Senate President (2005-2007)

Date of Birth: 02/11/1948
Place of Birth: Enugu

Education: MBA, University of Ohio, United States.

Career: Marketing Executive, Du Pont De Nemours International; Marketing Executive, Nova Chemicals International; Consultant, Maredec Limited; Senator, Enugu East, 2003-05; President, Senate, 2005-07; launched the Ken Nnamani Centre for Leadership and Development, May 2008.

Commentary: Ken Nnamani succeeded Adolphus Wabara as Senate President after Wabara was accused of corruption. Nnamani's appointment came as a surprise as he was relatively new to the Senate and not well known in political circles.

Nnamani has a difficult relationship with Olusegun Obasanjo. In 2006, he announced the Senate's decision to throw out an amendment to Nigeria's constitution that would have allowed Obasanjo to run for a third term.
