Triangular trade

With the other Asian powers vying for business elsewhere, Singapore has focused on two sluggish oil-producing countries in Central Africa: Congo-Brazzaville and Gabon. President Denis Sassou-Nguesso’s government is pushing for the development of three special economic zones, on the Chinese model, to help prepare for a post-oil future. It is a bit of triangular development, seeking to benefit from the joint expertise in the matter from Singapore and Mauritius.
