Underground and under threat

Non-governmental organisation Human Rights Watch launched the first in-depth report about abusive practices in Chinese-owned mines in Zambia on 3 November. It is based on the evidence of scores of workers at Chinese copper mines and plants. They reported unsafe working practices, intolerance for unions and the unwillingness and inability of the Zambian government to enforce labour laws.
