Criticism mounts but the deals keep coming

New Chinese President Xi Jinping travelled to the BRICS summit in Durban, South Africa, via Tanzania, one of Beijing’s closest partners on the continent. His consistent message was that China wanted a relationship of ‘equals’. He was responding to African officials such as Nigerian Central Bank Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi who are calling for a new realism in Sino-African relations.
