'Gbagbo or nothing'

The once ruling Front populaire ivoirien has confirmed it prefers the past to future by replacing Pascal Affi N'Guessan as FPI leader with Aboudrahmane Sangaré, an unreconstructed Gbagboiste. Shortly after, however, he was sent to prison. Dubbed 'Gbagbo or nothing' by supporters and critics alike, the FPI wing dedicated to ex-President Laurent Gbagbo, now on trial in the Hague for crimes against humanity, has prevailed over the pragmatists who wanted to make a credible showing in October's presidential election.
