New SEC rules

Oil, gas and mining companies will be forced to publish payments made to foreign governments under new rules from the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. According to a draft published on 11 December, any company that is publicly quoted in the USA and so files reports to the SEC would be required to disclose its payments to governments of over US$100,000 on a case-by-case basis.
