Nkaissery leaves the stage

Joseph Nkaissery looked hale and hearty at the Labour Day rally at the tourist village Bomas of Kenya, which he attended with President Uhuru Kenyatta just hours before his sudden death on 7 July. His role as a mover and shaker among securocrats and politicians right in the midst of a bitterly divisive election campaign virtually guaranteed that his death would be followed by lurid conspiracy theories. Detectives interviewed a dozen people to establish his movements prior to his death but the post-mortem revealed no foul play, just a massive heart attack.
