A year to deliver

After tackling inherited economic chaos, the government has to make good on its campaign promises

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo starts the year well ahead of the governing New Patriotic Party in the popularity stakes after a difficult first year in power. That is a function partly of Ghana's constitution favouring the executive, but also one of Akufo-Addo's style. He's an ideas man, given to a heterodox approach to social policy and economics, borrowing from both social democrats and neoliberals.
