A close ally of former President Zuma, Ace Magashule is struggling in his new role as Secretary-General of the ANC

The pressure is mounting on Ace Magashule, who faces a raft of anti-corruption investigations from his time as Premier of the Free State and widespread questions about his loyalty to new President Cyril Ramaphosa. This is a critical issue for the governing African National Congress (ANC) as Magashule's primary role – as Secretary-General of the party – is to unite and strengthen it under the new leadership.
