Warm words from President Kenyatta about tackling corruption hold little promise of transforming an endemic culture of rot

Grand corruption throughout society is being exposed on a scale Kenyans have never seen before – all, apparently, with the full support of President Uhuru Kenyatta. Such is the scale of the graft problem that, regardless of ethnic or party affiliation, the country is in uproar about it. Nevertheless, many believe that, as in the past, there will be no punishment of the guilty even if showcase arrests and trials of the guilty take place.
