Memo misfire

A diplomatic storm blew up just after Shamila Batohi, the new national director of public prosecutions, took over from her compromised predecessor, Shaun Abrahams, on 1 February. President Cyril Ramaphosa expects Batohi to prosecute top officials and former ministers who have been linked to grand corruption and abuse of office in a succession of judicial commissions.
