A reluctant reversion to the IMF

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo finally decided to open negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for balance-of-payments support, after cabinet had debated the issue for weeks. Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta strongly opposed the move, arguing it backtracked on the government's 'Beyond Aid' stance but was outvoted.
