Fund shores up internationalism

Reacting to diplomatic stalemates at the UN Security Council and the G20, the IMF is becoming the international forum of last resort – on debt, climate finance and the spillover from Moscow's war on Ukraine. It is a strange twist for a body that was almost universally condemned by developing countries for its harsh economic prescriptions in the 1980s and 1990s.
