The government keeps digging for corruption but sinks lower as it digs

The clumsy midnight attack by government agents on The Standard and KTN Television, both owned by the family of former President Daniel arap Moi, on 1 March looked like a desperate move by a government besieged by corruption charges (AC Vol 47 Nos 4 & 5). Insiders say it was more a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. President Mwai Kibaki was kept out of the picture and the government's divided response showed that most ministers knew nothing about it.
