Nkunda in the hills

From a farmhouse in the Masisi Hills, dissident General Laurent Nkunda has told Africa Confidential that he is ready to fight to the bitter end to prevent what he says is an impending attack to wipe out his fellow Congolese Tutsi. Nkunda's rhetoric has hardened since the announcement of an army build up in North Kivu after President Joseph Kabila decided to pull out of a deal to combine Nkunda's and the government's Forces Armées de la République du Congo .
