A king's ransom

The King of the Zulus, Goodwill Zwelithini, has been allocated 30 million rand (US$4.4 mn.) by the state for the 2006/2007 financial year. There are fears that he could overspend by more than R7 mn. He has plans for a new palace in Durban and there is speculation in royal circles that he aims to marry a sixth wife soon, having already paid a dowry of more than 30 cattle for Zola Mafu of Swaziland. A wedding date is eagerly expected.
