Security seats

The election of Libya to a seat on the United Nations Security Council on 16 October offers an opportunity for Mohamed Seif al-Islam, the son of leader Colonel Moammar el Gadaffi, to be appointed as Tripoli's permanent representative to the UN at this critical time. In Tripoli's ruling clique, Seif has been the most enthusiastic about a rapprochement with the USA and says he wants to spend more time there.
