The assassination of Congo-Kinshasa's President Laurent-Désiré Kabila played havoc with the running order at Cameroon's Franco-African summit, the 21st since 1973. Underlying the scheduled theme, 'L'Afrique - l'heure de la mondialisation' (Africa at the time of globalisation) are renewed doubts about the short-term future of the Franc Zone held by regional economists and leaders such as Malian President Alpha Oumar Konaré.
