Father Kukah, Professor Jega and the vote

In the Nigerian tradition of irrepressible optimism periodically suffused with brutal realism, Father Matthew Hassan Kukah argues that the last decade's attempts at democracy in Nigeria have been 'positive' and the country will hold together by 'sheer resilience'. A Catholic prelate raised in Kaduna with fluency in several Nigerian languages, Father Kukah worked with the National Political Reform Conference and also sat on the commission trying to reconcile the Ogoni people with Royal Dutch Shell's oil operations.
