‘Fear and... fiction from Clooney’

Sudanese ministers are not used to being chased by protestors. Yet this is how Khartoum’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Ahmed Kurti left London’s sedate St. James’s Square on 6 June, his limousine pursued by some of the small band of demonstrators, from all over Sudan, gathered outside the Royal Institute of International Affairs. His on-the-record speech to a packed Chatham House was less energetic, as if he were weary of dealing with audiences ranging from the sceptical to the openly hostile.
