Strain in ICC case

The International Criminal Court’s case against Kenyans accused of financing and organising post-election violence finally got underway with the ‘confirmation of charges hearings’ on 1 September – and more of a trickle than a flood of revelations.ICC Prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo charges Kalenjin politicians William Samoei Ruto, 45, Henry Kiprono Kosgey, 64, and the Kalenjin language station broadcaster, Joshua arap Sang, with building a political and military network to evict non-Kalenjins from the Rift Valley (AC Vol 52 No 12). More than 700 people were then killed there.
