Richard Ruegg Kershaw

Richard Ruegg Kershaw, who died aged 80 on 28 April, was one of the most multi-talented editors of Africa Confidential. He went on to work in radio, television and film. Kershaw started in journalism at The Financial Times after reading history at Clare College, Cambridge, and a stint at Britain's Commonwealth Relations Office. He joined The Scotsman in Edinburgh in 1960 at the height of Africa's decolonisation, reporting at first on the Commonwealth and then on wider diplomatic affairs.
