Economy up, security down

With strains appearing in the Jubilee Coalition, the opposition will exploit the government’s political and security problems

The grisly image of the decomposing and mutilated body of Meshack Yebei, a witness in Deputy President William Ruto's case at the International Criminal Court will keep this issue at the top of the political agenda in 2015. It will remind the public that the causes of the political violence after the 2007 elections, on which all the Kenyan ICC cases are based, are far from resolved. Yebei, a vehement and public critic of Ruto, was found on 3 January. Ruto and his supporters have denied any involvement and have called for a thorough police investigation.
