Ministerial resignations and dismissals in São Tomé and indignant denials of corruption in Nigeria follow the 31 May award of five blocks in the two countries' Joint Development Zone (which covers their undemarcated maritime boundary). Some officials in São Tomé bitterly opposed the proposed awards, which were recommended by the Joint Development Authority, which is made up of officials from the two countries.
