Bad moon rising

A general strike launched by two trades unions, the Confédération Nationale des Travilleurs de Guinée and Union Syndicale des Travailleurs de Guinée, on 10 January is threatening President Lansana Conté's grip on power. More than 5,000 Guineans have taken to the streets in the capital, Conkary, and tens of thousands are marching in the towns.
