At least a couple of months must pass before Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo can be transferred from Belgium, where he was arrested on 24 May, to prison in the Netherlands. The arrest warrant, from the International Criminal Court in the Hague, accuses him of crimes against humanity and war crimes in Central African Republic. Whatever his fate, the political opposition in Congo-Kinshasa, which he led, is further weakened.
