Among Africa’s regional organisations, the East African Community has become one of the most successful and coherent entities. East Africa’s budgets – all read on 12 June – reflect the continuing business expansion in the region. Robust growth rates will continue, consolidated by thriving cross-border trade and investment. Kenya’s locomotive power as a regional investor may have diminished but there are new positive regional developments, such as the growth in trade and business in Congo-Kinshasa and Southern Sudan.
