Talking to Jonas

The government may be getting ready to talk to its arch-enemy, Jonas Savimbi of the União Nacional para a Independência Total de Angola. The new parliamentary commission of the ruling Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola includes members favourable to talks, which ended in late 1998 after the Lusaka peace accord collapsed. The MPLA must get ready for the elections due at the end of 2002.
