Career: Graduate Teacher, Assistant Headteacher and Headteacher, Ghanata Secondary School, Dodowa, 1966-90; Director, Ghana Education Service (GES), Dangame East District, 1990; District Secretary, Dangame East District Assembly, 1990; Director, Secondary Education, GES, 1991-94; Director, Manpower and Training, GES, 1995-96; Deputy Director General, GES, 1996-2000; Acting Director, GES, 2001; MP for Ada Constituency, 2005-08, 2009; Education Minister, 2009-11.
Commentary: Since his installment as Minister of Education, Alex Tettey-Enyo has
openly expressed his support for private universities, acknowledging
that standards at public universities across Africa have deteriorated
since independence. He has called on African nations to support regional
integration in order to enhance academic mobility on the continent.
In
May 2010, Tettey-Enyo launched a new book by Dr Michael Agyekum
Addo, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kama Group Ltd,
called the Seven Principles of Success and Wealth Creation– the
Experience of an Accomplished Entrepreneur. He was replaced as Minister of Education by Betty Mould-Idrissu in 2011.
