The use of unregulated money in Uganda's elections is increasing. Last week's poll saw more voter-bribery than ever 

A wounded man lies outstretched on the dusty ground in Hoima District, surrounded by curious onlookers. In tears, James Munyakyongole recounts the agony of his rotting leg to independent presidential candidate John Patrick Amama Mbabazi, prompting him to offer payment for his medical treatment: 'I'm a citizen at the end of the day, what do you expect me to do?' The former Prime Minister shrugs as he moves on to meet more potential voters.
